Youth Ambassadors for a Better Community

THE PROGRAM

Founded in 2015, Youth Ambassadors for a Better Community (YABC) is a mission based youth leadership group. We started out on a mission to increase the quantity, quality, and sustainability of community gardens across the tri-county area, while instilling leadership, entrepreneurship, and social skills into our youth.

This program has grown tremendously and as a result we began serving our regional community in 2018 through expanded policy involvement and a new partnership with North Carolina State Universities Vacation Vittles Program.

WHAT WE DO

Increase access to locally grown food
Build leadership and entrepreneurial skills among youth
Support local farmers by creating new markets

Onsite Gardens & Markets

Our garden directory currently works with 5 community gardens located throughout rural towns of Bolton, East Arcadia and Sandyfield, NC (B.E.S.T) to:

Increase profitability of community gardens
Increase profitability of community gardens
Advertise, market, and sell locally grown produce

Expand Access to Food

By partnering with a variety of Neighborhood Associations, Public Agencies, Nonprofit Organizations, Businesses, Houses of Worship, Conservation Groups, Colleges and Schools we expand access to food together. In addition, we now have a mobile trailer to extend our reach!
